BECOMING A MEMBER OF GAMMA MU PHI FRATERNITY REQUIRES AN INVESTMENT OF YOUR PERSONAL TIME, TALENTS, AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT.
We are not looking for candidates who are not interested in serving the communities in which they live.
We are not seeking candidates who do not take economic excellence seriously.
Most importantly, we are not interested in individuals whose actions will put the organization’s brand and well-being at risk. This ship does not need anchors.
Any Black or Brown same-sex loving male may be presented as a candidate for general membership in a local chapter provided that he:
• Is at least 21 years of age
• Has successfully completed one semester or two quarters of a regular year’s program
• Is of good character
• Is registered to vote, if eligible and qualified
• Is sponsored by a member in good standing
• Is recommended by a member in good standing
REQUIREMENTS FOR HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
A.) Honorary Members shall be men who have made extraordinary contributions in their field and have made significant impact on the national or global community consistent with the Fraternity’s core values. An Honorary Member must exemplify the Cardinal Principles of the Fraternity. An individual may be considered for honorary membership into the Fraternity provided he is:
a. Recommended by a member or chapter(s) to a Special Committee for Honorary Member Selection appointed by the National President. The Committee should have experience in vetting and identifying prodigious talent;
b. Recommended by the Honorary Member Selection Committee to the National Executive Board.
c. Approved by a 2/3 vote of the National Executive Board; and
d. Initiated during the National Convention closest to the candidate’s acceptance of the Fraternity’s invitation to become an Honorary Member. The invitation shall be completed within one of two sequential National Convention cycles.
B.) An Honorary Member shall have all privileges of membership except those of voting and holding elective office.
